Rules & Regulations of the Draft Horse Show:

1. PROOF OF LIABILITY INSURANCE MUST BE PROVIDED WITH ENTRY FORMS! All drivers and handlers must be insured.

2. All fees MUST accompany entry forms. Entry closing date is August 28th.

3. All animals are asked to be in their stalls by 9:00am Wednesday and must remain on the grounds until 5:00pm on Sunday. Any exhibitor who leaves before 5:00pm Sunday will forfeit all prize money and may be denied entry the following year. Horses shown in line classes only may haul in and out.

4. All exhibits should display a sign stating the Exhibitor’s name and address. Exhibitors are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their stall during the exhibition. All prize money will be forfeited if stalls are left unclean at the end of the show.

5. Horses shown in Line classes only MUST be hauled in and out if stabling is not available.

6. The PNCE Draft Horse Division cannot be held responsible for any loss or injury to horses and/or drivers and/or tack and equipment.

7. If insufficient entries are received for any class/section, the section may be cancelled or combined at the discretion of the committee. Exhibitors will be notified in advance.

8. In all pure-bred classes, the name and number of animals must be given on the entry form. No horses shall be allowed to compete as pure-bred unless registered, except animals under one year of age, in which case name and registration of sire and dam must be given.

9. The driver of the hitch for the Four and Six Horse Driving Competition must have driven the same hitch in the respective hitch class.

10. In all multiple team hitches (more than 2); the driver must be accompanied by a capable insured driver assistant on the wagon.

11. In Junior Driving classes, the driver must be accompanied by a capable insured driver. Juniors are to be 16 years of age and under and must wear a helmet.

12. Ladies Cart Class is open to Ladies over 16 years of age and must be accompanied by a properly dressed header when lined up in the ring.

13. All competitions must be held in fenced or enclosed area and every effort will be made to ensure safe hitching and assembly area.

14. Trailer hook-ups and exhibitor passes must be obtained at the Exhibition office. If a trailer hookup is required, please indicate on the entry form.

15. Any problems arising that is not covered by the above rules, or the general rules, will be handled by the committee.

16. DRAFT HORSE FEES:
                Entry Fees per Horse $15
                Trailer Parking & Hook up $30/day or $100/week
Horse exhibitors will be entitled to one free exhibitor’s pass per animal entered to a maximum of four passes. If entitled to a free pass(es), exhibitors may purchase an additional five-day pass at $15 each for free pass received.

Sub sections are as follows: C = CLYDESDALES, P = PERCHERONS, B = BELGIANS
“R” after the class number means Registered (Registration papers must be at ringside) and “G” means Grade
LINE CLASSES:
Prize Money: 1st - $15.00; 2nd - $13.00; 3rd - $10.00; 4th, 5th & 6th - $8.00

2R.          Filly or Stallion (yearling)
3R.          Two-year-old filly
4R.          Junior Champion Mare and Reserve (Ribbons only)
5R.          Three-year-old filly
6R.          Brood Mare: mare that shows evidence of being in foal or has raised a foal during the current year. The exhibitor is required to show the mare with foal at foot or registration certificate of the foal must be provided if foal is not shown.
7R.          Yield mare four years & older
8R.          Senior Champion Mare and Reserve (Ribbons Only)
9R.          Grand Champion Mare and Reserve (Ribbons Only)
10R.       Stallion two years old
11R.       Junior Champion Stallion and Reserve (Ribbons Only)
12R.       Stallion three-year-old and older
13R.       Senior Champion Stallion and Reserve (Ribbons Only)
14R.       Grand Champion Stallion and Reserve (Ribbons Only)
15R.       Get of Sire: three animals, any age, the get of one sire. Each animal must have been shown in its appropriate single section. At least one animal must be owned by the exhibitor and registered in the exhibitor’s name.
16R.       Progeny of Dam: two animals, any age, the progeny of one dam. Each animal must have been shown in its appropriate single section if offered. Both animals must be owned by the exhibitor and registered in the exhibitor’s name.

25           Best draft foal of present year, foaled in counties of Pictou or Colchester, purebred or grade.  
26           Best mare or gelding bred in Pictou or Colchester County, sired by a registered draft stallion, purebred or grade
27           Best mare or gelding, maritime bred, purebred or grade
28           Champion Horse – Sponsored Class
29           Senior Showmanship, over 16 years
30           Junior Showmanship, 12 years & under
31           Intermediate Showmanship, 13-16 years
