EACH EXHIBITOR MUST PAY $5 PER HORSE FOR DRUG TESTING PRIOR TO PULLING. PROOF OF LIABILITY INSURANCE MUST BE PROVIDED WITH ENTRY.
RULES: 1. All horses will be subject to drug testing. NO DRUGS ARE TO BE ALLOWED.
2. If any team becomes unmanageable or difficult to handle, and in the opinion of the Judge and Fair Committee, becomes dangerous to the public, it will be disqualified and ordered to be taken from the pull area.
3. Light Teams to weigh up to 3000 lbs; Medium Teams to weigh 3001 – 3500 lbs; Heavy Teams 3501 lbs and over.
4. All teamsters to pull light to heavy draw for pulling position. Draw to take place during the meeting at the scales prior to the pull.
5. PULLING DISTANCE: 12 feet. Two starts are allowed to move the load 12 feet. Teams must stay hooked to the drag between starts. In case of breakage of harness or equipment the team will drop to the end of the round.
6. Lines are to be used, 14 ft apart for teams. Any horse of any team stepping over the white line during a start will lose that start. Any teams having two errors will be disqualified.
7. Teams will pull round robin style.
8. a) 3 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE PULL b) MUST BE HOOKED WITHIN THE FIRST 2 MIN OR THE NEXT TEAM WILL BE CALLED. c) YOUR TIME WILL START WHEN THE BOTTLE IS SET THE DRAG WILL BE SET FOR THE LAST 2 TEAMS AND POSITIONED BY THE JUDGE AND COMMITTEE. d) ONLY ONE WARNING FOR GOING EXCESSIVE DISTANCE WITH THE DRAG.
9. Any teamster judged to be under the influence of liquor will not be allowed to compete. No whips allowed with horses. No slashing or overhand whipping will be allowed.
10. ABSOLUTELY NO TOUCHING THE HORSES. IF YOU DO, YOU LOSE THAT START. NO CRUELTY WILL BE TOLERATED ON THE EXHIBITION GROUNDS TO ANY ANIMAL.
11. NO PROFANE LANGUAGE OR VERBAL ABUSE WILL BE USED DURING CONTESTS OR YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
12. NO DRAGGING SPREADERS ON THE GROUND AND MUST BE CARRIED IN THE ARENA.
13. The drag will be pulled both ways by horses and will be repositioned with the tractor at the discretion of the judge, if conditions warrant. Everyone gets and extra free start in the first round if required.
14. Concerning all teams: If any horse of any team be so blemished or in poor condition, the judge and the committee shall have the right to eliminate that team.
15. Only one teamster to a team, but two helpers are allowed when hooking to the drag and in the case of breakage or accident. Once a team is hooked to the drag, THE HELPERS MUST MOVE TO THE REAR. TEAMSTERS AND HELPERS MUST BE NEATLY DRESSED.
16. Any bunting of the drag more than 3 inches during a pull will be counted as a start.
17. Drag will be set at the discretion of the judge.
18. ANY TEAMSTERS WITH GREIVANCE MUST ADDRESS THE JUDGE THEMSELF.
19. MINIMUM STARTING LOAD FOR TEAMS: Heavy Draft 4500 lbs; Medium Draft – 3500 lbs; Light Draft – 2500 lbs. 18 teams will be weighed.
20. Winner will be the team pulling the heaviest load.
